Language Arts and Music
I never could have anticipated the kind of present-awareness, loving- kindness, and compassion that has arisen as a result of my experience in the care-taking field.
When I made the decision to live my life with intention, one of the ways in which I would do so was a career change. I have worked in restaurants, on sales teams, in cubicles, from home on my computer, and nothing has brought more joy and meaning to my life than working with children.
I grew up with my nose in books. Because of this I always had my mind set on having grand adventures. By 16, I had been to several countries, including a 2-month stint in Russia. I participated in student government, sports, music, and various clubs. I tried everything I could, trying to find some purpose my life.
I first dedicated myself to political science in college, first at Santa Barbara City College, then UC Santa Cruz. I spent a semester in France with grandiose ideas of working for the UN. Ultimately it was soul-sucking. I wanted to be a positive force in the world but eventually could not handle the nature of the political system.
Instead of going back to France to continue my education, I moved to San Francisco to deepen my mediation practice and pursue music. I knew I was on the right path. Still, I had this gnawing sense that something was off-kilter.
It was this realization that brought me back to my roots; Sacramento. As I focus now on my personal development and life-goals, it is important to me to engage in work that is meaningful and brings me joy. Which is why I began myjourney at Little Explorers. To be a positive force in your child’s live and to experience that sense of wonder and uninhibited creative that only a child can have.
