Early Childhood Educator
Hello, I’m Kuntal aka Ms. K.
I’m the youngest of four daughters in my family and my parents’ favorite child contrary to what my sisters might tell you. I was born in New Delhi, India. I studied, resided and traveled throughout India until graduating from high school in 1994. Post graduating high school I moved to Berkeley, CA where I attended UC Berkeley with a double major in Psychology and Economics. Being the youngest in my family, I was fortunate enough to learn indispensable lessons by observing the lives of my sisters and spending a considerable amount of time with my niece and nephews as a young, single aunt.
Prior to founding Little Explorers Academy, I was an Information Technology & Engineering Project Manager for 15 years. I was fortunate enough to work with some of the biggest names and reputed companies like Google, Intel, Cisco, Apple, Amazon, Facebook which gave me insightful experiences and what I call a real education in learning from people with different cultures, backgrounds, languages, cuisines and social statuses. We were all so different yet we all had the same desires, hopes and dreams for us and our future generations.
I have always been doting of children and I come from a long line of family members dedicated to the field of Education. I always dreamt of being an Educator especially working with little children. I kept this dream alive inside me for a day when I had concluded my parenting responsibilities and retired. A few years back, my daughter who is a grown young woman now mentioned something in regards to how in a span of few years she would be driving. I was taken aback by the realization of how fast the time went by. Being a single Mother and the sole caretaker of my daughter, I realized that life indeed moves pretty fast and if we don’t stop to enjoy it once in a while we might miss it.This moment would be something that would change the course of my life and define the next meaningful chapter in my journey.
I decided to resign from my corporate job and after I had taken off the much-needed time for the first time in my life since I was 17, I knew I wanted to get back to work but I also wanted to take on a new profession in which I could pursue doing what I enjoy. Don’t get me wrong I completely valued my corporate life but a little voice inside of me kept telling me: “Kuntal, it’s time to do something that fulfills your soul and provides service to others.” After pondering for a few days, one morning I had an epiphany and that’s how “Little Explorers Academy” was born! I decided that I wanted to dedicate my life to caring for our future generations. In my personal opinion, there is nothing more noble in this world than being able to care for the children!
Little Explorers Academy is not a hobby or a mode to pay bills for me, it’s a way of life! Being a single Mother, I comprehend how rare and difficult it is to find quality care for our children and how important it is that they spend time with someone who is trustworthy, fun, an intellectual and can be an extension of the family. A caretaker who not only spends a substantial amount of time with our children but someone who is well traveled, well read, well versed and takes nourishing our children’s mind, body, and soul quite earnestly. I deem that the first five years of a child’s life are the most imperative years of their lives. What we reflect, imprint, and teach by self-example in these first five years remains with them for the rest of their lives.
I take my journey as a Childcare Provider and Early Childhood Educator quite sincerely. I aspire to make sure that when children graduate my care they are well equipped with practices, skills, and intellect that excels them exceptionally in a global community. I intend that our Little Explorers enrich the lives of every member of this Universe they come across in their lifetime. I feel extremely fortunate to be a small part of this universe in sculpting these little lives. Thank you for reading this far and choosing Little Explorers Academy. I cannot wait to join you and your family on this wonderful journey together!
